As I pulled away from the pick-up lane today, my thoughts turned from frustration and ill-will at the endless line of vehicles in the cold, cold weather to how fortunate I was to have the privilege to pick up my child from school. The swing in my thought was brought about with the text alert stating that Nelson Mandela had died.
I couldn't imagine spending my life in prison for a crime that was not against humanity but was against tyranny and then emerging from a dark, dank cell and continuing to believe in the goodness that is in the world.
Thank you, Mr. Mandela. You've demonstrated with your words, your actions, your heart, your life that the time is always ripe to do right.
